9/18/2010 - Rare Opportunity to Learn Savate From a Master of the Art!
MKG Presents Salem Assli Savate Seminar!
September 18th and 19th 2010 12:00pm to 4:00pm* $110.00 for both days
Savate, also
known as boxe française, French boxing, French
Kickboxing or French Footfighting, is a French martial
art which uses the hands and feet as weapons combining elements of western
boxing with graceful kicking techniques. Only foot kicks are
allowed unlike some systems such as Muay Thai and Silat which allow the
use of the knees or shins. "Savate" is a French word for
"old shoe.” Savate is perhaps the only style of kickboxing in which
the fighters habitually wear shoes.
Salem Assli is a full instructor under Guro Dan Inosanto in Kali and Jeet Kune Do as well as a Full Instructor under Grandmaster Chai Siritsute in Thai Boxing.
Salem comes to Seattle only once every few years so take advantage of this opportunity right away! Email or call us at info@mkseattle or 206-789-2411 to register!
*a 30 minute lunch break will be held during both days

2/21/2006 - Smoker/Fight Results
We had our first ever inter-school sparring/fight event with NW Kali/JKD in Federal Way on 02/17/06. 6 students from MKG Martial Arts and 6 students from NW Kali competed in the event.
Randy Nunez, Chris McMullin, Brian Tardiff, Josh Mills and Paul Echavarria fought 3 x 2 minutes rounds with kickboxing rules. Raphael Park fought 2 x 2 minute rounds under boxing rules. Congratulations all! In the spirit of the event everybody went hard but no winners or losers were called. Afterwords we all went out and celebrated together. With the bad sportsmanship, rampant egos and mismatched opponents inherent in martial sports these days it was an amazing experience to bring together two schools in the spirit of friendly, positive competition. We are planning these events every 2 months. In the future we would like to add single and double stick sparring, muay thai rules kickboxing and submission grappling matches. If you are a student of either school and are interested in competing please see your instructor to determine your eligibility.
